Steve (Fanyao) Zhang studied Geology in his early career, obtaining his B.S. in Petroleum Geology and earned his M.S. in Petroleum Geology in China. He then taught as an assistant professor in the same field. Steve came to the U.S and became a research assistant at Louisiana State University, studying sedimentary patterns of petroleum reservoirs. He was a PhD candidate at Pennsylvania State University, specializing in Computer Modeling of Sedimentary Processes. Steve's background in Geology and Mineralogy provided him foundation for asbestos analysis. As the Laboratory Director, Steve is responsible for assuring that Seattle Asbestos Test, LLC resources are adequately allocated to specific projects, sufficient staffing, equipment, and support are in place, and satisfactory services are provided to clients. Mr. Zhang oversees the Laboratory Manager, the Marketing Manager, the Q/A Manager and all other personal, and makes the ultimate decisions on every phase of the laboratory operations.

Weilong Tai, Laboratory Manager

As Laboratory Manager, Weilong Tai works under the supervision of the Lab Director, and is responsible for assuring that the clients are getting timely and satisfactory services, the laboratory operations are smooth, all analysts and personnel are performing efficiently, the samples are received, processed, and stored properly, the supplies are maintained at the right level and spent efficiently, and that the procedures are written and followed with the guidelines of NVLAP accreditation. Weilong’s duty also includes assisting the work of the department mangers. Weilong holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Qingdao University, China. Weilong Tai reports directly to the Laboratory Director.

Liz Dutton, Assistant Laboratory Manager

Liz loved science since her childhood. Growing up in Eastern Washington, fossil and rock hunting trips were a common occurrence for her, and she spent countless hours on petri dish science fair projects at her father's biological lab at Washington State University. As a Geology major in college, Liz gained an intimate knowledge of mineralogy and microscopy, which gave her great advantage working in the field of Analytical Asbestos.

It has proven to be a pleasant and important milestone for both Liz and Seattle Asbestos Test, LLC that she took the opportunity to join the team when a position was open.

After joining Seattle Asbestos Test, LLC, Liz showed her great enthusiasm for applying the material and geologic sciences to this job, and her upbeat and positive attitude, her eagerness to learn, as well as her ability to attend to even the smallest details were felt by everyone.

Liz enjoys sports activities, reading and arts as her hobbies.Liz holds a Bachelors Degree of Science in Geology from Western Washington University.

As the Assistant Laboratory Manager at Seattle Asbestos Test, Liz’s goal is to provide all clients with timely, accurate, and quality results as well as to create an environment in which other team members can do the same.

Liz's duty also includes training new employees in analytical skills, maintaining customer information, working efficiently, and performing multi-tasks, as well as assisting the Laboratory Manager in all phases of operations. Liz reports directly to the Laboratory Director, but is under the supervisor of the Laboratory Manager.
