Proficiency and Requirements
With employment length up to 18 months, able to handle moderate sample load with good accuracy. The QA/QC rate is 75% to 100%. Getting tested or ceritified with NIOSH 7400 and NIOSH 582. Able to independently describe samples with 75% accuracy up to 8 layers. In terms of slide preparation, able to prepare almost all insulation samples correctly, and able to prepare half NOB samples. 90% correctness in color and content description of PLM bulk samples. PLM Microscope skills include identifying Chrysotile, Amosite, Crocidolite, Actinolite, Cellulose, Glass Fiber, Polyethylene, Sythetic Fibers, Mineral Wools. 90% accuracy in recognizing morphology and color of the above types of asbestos and non-asbestos fibers. When measuring refractive indices, the allowed range is mo more than 0.004. Able to measure sign of elongation, 75% conformance when measuring birefringence. Able to measure extinction. In regards to participation of PAT rounds, starting to participate in AIHA, NVLAP, Inter-Lab Rounds and Intra-Lab Rounds. In terms of PLM testing Methods, fairly good understanding of EPA 600/R-93/116, EPA 600/M4-82-020, OSHA ID 191, NIOSH 9002. Able to perform EPA Point Count, and gravimetric methods. Starting to understand Beckline method, Dispersion Staining for both Central and Annular Methods. Daily routine for setting up microscopes, able to adjust the settings if needed, and able to calibrate microscopes to a certain degree.
